The TweakGDS utility is designed to allow you to change the search index of your Google Desktop Search. (Google Desktop Search stores index data in XML files on the search server.) It is designed to be a plugin for the Google Desktop Search suite of products and works with the standard Google Desktop Search 4.0.x and 5.0.x versions. It can move or re-index your Google Desktop Search index (including mapped network drives and attached USB/Firewire drives) or force a complete re-indexing of your drives or subfolders. Features: ■ Simple and easy to use - just run the program, then select the desired Google Desktop Search index type ■ Works with Drive and Profile models of Google Desktop Search ■ Automatically maps network drives and works with Firewire, USB, and PnP formatted removable media (and CD drives) ■ Works with Windows Sockets (Sockets API) ■ Indexes multiple drives in a single index ■ Can search from multiple indexes simultaneously (because it is a multithreaded program) Limitations: ■ Must be a Google Desktop Service account (Google Desktop 2.x and earlier) ■ Must run from a user account with sufficient permissions to modify the search index ■ You cannot use TweakGDS for your personal server index Tuesday, April 05, 2007 MSN used to be a great company but somewhere along the line they turned into a near-worthless venture. I don't think I will bother listening to anything they release after a couple of years. MSN's music offerings are trash and any attempt at upgrading your music experience only guarantees that you will have problems. Update: Also, Nuxsoft Music Converter is a great free converter for a very basic purpose. One quick "add" and you're done. I use it on all of my tunes and it works.
